The Tallest Building In The World Is Burj Dubai

Burj Dubai

Dubai makes history! As of today, you can find the tallest man-made building in Dubai. The skyscraper is called Burj Dubai (burj means tower in Arabic) and the tower overtook the Warszawa radio mast in Poland which measures 646 meters. The Dubai-based skyscraper measures 650 meters and it’s expected to get even bigger and will reach 819 meters to the aircraft beacon.

Burj Dubai

Dubai should hurry up with the Burj because Kuwait’s Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir will be finished in 2012 and will measure 1,001 meters. Until then, Dubai will be very proud of their achievement and I’m guessing that they could start a project to make it even taller and to compete against Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir.

Burj Dubai Project

Check out the video below with the video of the Burj Dubai designed by Adrian Smith, and at least for the moment, the tallest building in the world ever.

  32. yes on May 21st, 2008

They’re using indian and chinese slaves to build everything with oil money. Don’t ever support Dubai. That’s just wrong.

  33. Mildenhall on May 21st, 2008

The Warsawa radio mast collapsed in 1991. So the builders of the Burj did not need to try too hard to surpass its height.

To bad Dubai is running out of oil, that is why they are trying to switch their economy over to tourism. It’s funny that all of you hating them just for being proactive something that the US should take notes on.

  36. Quittie on May 21st, 2008

I’ve never seen a building that tall before.
    “GOOD JOB”!!!!!

  37. Goat Herder on May 21st, 2008

Wow, That is fantastic. CrusadeX Dubai is a rich country who doesn’t want our American dollars, according to a friend of mine who had port there in the Navy a year or so ago. In fact his exact words were. We don’t need your dirty American dollars here, you kill Iraqi children. And his response was “Yea, and we kill Iraqi adults to”

  38. jawzofthepit on May 21st, 2008

  41. Greg on May 21st, 2008

    The good:
Huge malls, beach, plenty of crap to boast about (they are pretty much aiming for the “largest” title in every category - theme parks to mosques)
    The bad:
Expensive as hell, too hot, internet blows.

Nice place to visit, sucks living here. And btw, the Burj is supposedly “terrorist-proof”, but I find that hard to believe.

  42. Tim on May 21st, 2008

Who gives a rats ass about Dubai anyway? Woo-woo good for them

  43. Greg on May 21st, 2008

Like others have said, the Warsaw radio tower collapsed in 1991, making your present-tense usage of it incorrect.

The current tallest completed structure in the world, and the previous record holder before the Burj Dubai, is the KVLY TV Tower in Blanchard, North Dakota.

Notice how the World Trade Center towers
are so blatantly missing from the tower
height comparison. They should have put
a not there saying: We destroyed these
towers of the infidels, the same infidels
whose purchase of Middle East oil PAID for
the Burj Dubai. Did they really think that
that act would not provoke us to invade
one of the countries in the region? Believe
me, our large presence there is FOREVER right next
door to Iran in case they get any ideas.

  56. A. Phillips on June 1st, 2008

InTheBullsEye: The height comparison was made by an Australian, not an Arab. Afghanistan is not in the region, it’s Central Asia, at least I assume that’s who you meant as they were the ones involved in 9/11. And for the record, less than 10% of Dubai’s money comes from their fairly tiny oil deposits, the rest is from commodities traded through the city and an increasing amount from tourism. But the inane ramblings and indeed my response to them are hardly on topic for this post; for which I apologise.

anyway, watch out world…..we (Canada) had one of the tallest structures in the world for years and once all the Jones are done with this rash of building….Montreal has something up it’s sleeve to give the title back to Canada and North America…it will be amazing and make Dubai and Kuwait look like they came out of a tub of cold water! lol……watch for it in 2018..plans are underway with private sector and the government of Canada…don’t forget, we have oil and water and the USA as our buddy !!!!!!!!!

  64. A. Phillips on June 12th, 2008

Haha, it is funny hearing some ppl saying that this is what they are doing with their gas money, well if u get over your stupidity u will realize that your whole western civilization was built on stealing third world countries riches and yeah! one more thing, Dubai has only a tiny reserve of oil, much much less that that in the US for example.
