The Latest Green Project In Chicago - The Eco-Bridge

Eco-Bridge

A city that has made some important changes and “upgrades” in the green sector. It’s one of the greenest cities in the world, but it would be better if I say that in the next few years it will be among the greenest as for now, they didn’t complete so many environmentally-friendly projects.

Eco-Bridge

A new sustainable project called the Eco-Bridge is about to get started. This new structure is destined to become a breakwater in the Monroe Harbor and also, will provide recreational spaces for city residents and for tourists.

Eco-Bridge

The bridge will measure two miles and will calm the water to allow rowing and sailing, and will bound the opposite ends of Chicago’s center and the Grant Park. Into the Eco-Bridge, there will be integrated several wind turbines with the purpose of adding economic value and to put to account the “love” that Chicago has for sustainable structures. On center of the bridge there will be placed an observation tower where the visitors will see some incredible views of the city.

Eco-Bridge

The idea of the Eco-Bridge was inspired by the Burnham Plan of Chicago conceived in 1909 and now, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture made some adjustments and improvements, and if the bridge will be completed before 2016, then it will serve as the home of the Olympic flame as Chicago City hopes to become the host of the 2016 Olympic Games.
