Eiffel Tower Will Be Upgraded With A Kevlar-Deck

Eiffel Tower Kevlar-Deck

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most renowned structure in thw world. It was designed by Gustave Eiffel and its construction is the same as it was about 120 years ago when it was finished. In order to celebrate properly the 12oth anniversary, an architecture company called Serero will update the Eiffel Tower and will “decorate” it with a temporary carbon-kevlar deck.

This upgrade will double the space-floor of Eiffel’s top and will not change in any other way the design of the original structure. What I do not understand is why this is only temporary because it looks great and it could attract even more tourists. It’s their call.

Ugly as sin; Parisians already hate the thing and this will probably only reinforce that attitude. I’ve no doubts the tourists will eat it up, though, so it’s fine in that respect.

Fortunately it was only an internet rumour according to La Societe d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel.

I think it looks really bad. I hope they don’t build it, but I’ll tell you a little secret about temporary architecture. They sell it to the public that way, then it kind of finds a way of never being taken down. Kind of like the Eiffel Tower itself.

It’s a great idea but for long term it might be dangerous becuause of strong wind repatedly striking to the top of the structure. The whole tower will collapse when it reaches it’s fatigue limit. That’s why it’s temporary.
