Construction For The Rotating Tower In Dubai To Begin This Month

I don’t think that I have to say more about Dubai. Everybody knows that there you can find the most impressive structure in the modern world - world’s most luxurious hotel, Burj Al Arab and world’s tallest building , Burj Dubai. Now, they have prepared a new impressive structure: it’s the Rotating Tower designed by David Fisher’s Dynamic Architecture.

The Rotating Tower will be the first ever in motion as the floors will be able to twirl continuously. The construction of Fisher’s design will begin this month and when it’s finished it will change shape in order to give to the inhabitants the possibility of choosing a new view by pressing only one button.

This dynamic tower will be self-sufficient meaning that it will be powered by the sun and by the wind energy. Based on a state-of-the-art technology, Fisher designed the twirling tower to withstand heavy earthquakes even if each floor will rotate independently.

A weird fact about the Rotating Tower is that each of its floor will be produced in a factory which is a first for a building this size. The floors consist of 12 units and on each floor there will be individual plumbing, electric connections and air conditioning among others.

Dubai’s new masterpiece will feature 59 stories and as aforementioned, it will produce ten times the energy that it needs and this makes it a positive energy building. As the construction is scheduled to begin this month, there are some reports that a tower like this one will be built in Moscow.

Wow! I love this. It really shows you don’t have to ignore the form of a building to make it green, it is possible to produce beautiful structures that are sustainable.
I would love to know who determines the towers rotation - it states above that the inhabitants choose their view at the click of a button - but with a proposed 12 units on each floor, I can see neighbours engaging in a rotation war of some description.
That said, great idea and well done to the architects for making such a beautiful, iconic design so eco-friendly.
What you said is right, I think that this may actually be a bug they will have to work out. I am sure they will think of something ingenious to fix it though. Maybe they can give a schedule that two hours out of every day only one unit has control and keep the schedule in rotation so that each unit will be able to choose their viev without being inhibited by others wishes.
Dubai is really an amazing place. I think that it will continue to grow and amaze us all. I am sure this will not be the Greates thing to hit Dubai for very long. they will have to find something else to exceed it. The best thing is that I will be there to see it happen!
An excellent idea to generate solar energy and wind energy to work together with energy generated
during an earth qwack to produce energy resources to the Building Engineering Services.
Dear Dr. David Fisher;
Are you able and willing to putup a 82-floor Earth
Quack Resistance Building in Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA if “We put our money where our mouth is, by investing US $ 480 Million investment in your company, ” ROTATING TOWER TECHNOLOGY LIMITED. ” eACH floor SHOULD HAVE 18 MODULES TO CONSERVE WATER AND ENERGY AS WELL AS FRESH AIR IN THE FUTURE.”
Seems like a great concept but I’ll believe it if I see a plausable plumbing diagram! Nowhere have I seen an explanation of how water will be provided to and removed from the rotating floors. There would have to be a complex ring of valve fittings that constantly engaged and disengaged on the order of a bottling plant or a milking machine operated by a juggler. And what about electrical, telephone and internet couplings to say nothing of natural gas? Connections could be provided by hoses and cables if the rotation were restricted to a bit less than 360 degrees. If they’ve worked it out I’d love to see the solution. I hope that it’s not just a pipe dream.
[…] Energy positive building Check this out. […]
It’s great, but i’d like to know more about the structural details for this building or at least how it’s going to work, and to know more about the columns, beams and such as this
it is fantastic and a welcome development in the world of architecture, thumb up for this genius brain.
I’m deeply skeptical about the energy production of the building which is overstimated of around 50 times. But the design is quiet good and the technical problems for plumbing, electricity etc in my opinion are resoluble. For the plumbing i would make two tanks one for fresh water and one for stained water, i would put eight or sixteeen columns with fresh water/dark waters in the concrete core. The tanks will be provided with a computerized valve and a flexible pipe only a few meters long that will connect to the nearest water column when the movement of the floor ends. For electricity i’s only a problem of electromagnetic coupling and induction, two halves of a little transformer can be holded few millimeters apart, one half on the moving part of the house, the other half on the fixed part of the house. This system will have only a few more losses than a solid transformer. For electical supply you can use in a simpliest way brush contacts. For internet: wireless. No gas, only induction cooking devices.
