New York’s skyline is dominated by extraordinary skyscrapers and they are the main point of attraction, but this will change in the next months on Franklin Place. The Dutch architect, Ben van Berkel designed a residential tower which will feature 20-stories.

The designer from UNStudio prepared an exterior wrapped in black metal-bands. These bands will consist of the balconies, terraces and sunshades, and I should mention that they will provide some privacy for the people living the apartments.

The 20-storied tower will be called 5 Franklin Place will provide enough space for 55 apartments which will be divided in loft residences, city residences and three penthouses. The building will be constructed by B&B Italia and another interesting fact is that this is the first major project in the US for UNStudio.
