Zero-Carbon And Prefab For “A Floating World”

We always encouraged green buildings and projects therefore we are pleased to announce that RIBA awarded a green design as the visitor center at the new Brockholes Wetland and Woodland Nature Reserve in Preston, Northern England. The project consists of zero-carbon floating buildings and it’s called “A Floating World”.

The zero-carbon new world was designed by Adam Khan Architects and it’s based on prefab materials like thatch, willow and timber that in combination with on-site energy generation will result in a reduction of the negative impacts over the environment.

“A Floating World” will be built on an island of floating pontoons on a 67-acres gravel pit and the architects explained that the sustainable city will not be affected by floods. The city will provide enough space for shops, galleries, cafes and meeting rooms. Adam Khan’s design is a part of the Newlands Scheme, a £59 million project that will convert about 900 hectares of land into green space with the purpose of drawing the attention on the importance of a greener world.
